Welcome to the 5th annual Duck Love Week! The week of July 22, the Yellow Duck Marketing team embarked on a week-long celebration of community and compassion, dedicated to giving back to both local and national organizations. Our goal this year was to make a positive impact every single day, and we’re excited to share the highlights of our week.
Day 1: Supporting Home Again Foundation and East Cooper Community Outreach
We kicked off Duck Love Week by supporting two incredible organizations. The Home Again Foundation works tirelessly to provide safe and affordable housing solutions to families in the Charlotte area. Their efforts address homelessness through transitional housing, support services, and educational programs that empower families towards self-sufficiency. Similarly, East Cooper Community Outreach offers a broad range of services including emergency assistance, health and dental care, and education programs to support individuals and families in their 16-county service area near Charleston, S.C., where one of our ducks is based. Both organizations are dedicated to helping their communities achieve better quality of life and self-sufficiency.
Day 2: Trash Pickup at Freedom Park
On Day 2, our team rolled up our sleeves for a trash pickup at Freedom Park in Charlotte. With garbage bags in hand and a commitment to keeping our parks clean, we spent the morning making a tangible difference in our local environment. It was a refreshing and rewarding way to spend our morning!
Day 3: Empowering Girls and Supporting Reproductive Health
Day 3 began by highlighting Girl Talk Foundation, which focuses on empowering young girls through college tours and a 13-week character and leadership curriculum. We also supported A Step Ahead of East Tennessee, an organization providing essential reproductive healthcare services. Their comprehensive approach includes education, information and access to birth control, helping women make informed choices about their futures.
Day 4: Equipping Students with Classroom Supplies
On the fourth day, we teamed up with Classroom Central to assemble classroom kits for Mecklenburg County schools. Classroom Central collects and distributes free school supplies to students in need, ensuring they have the tools necessary to learn effectively. Our contribution included flashcard packets for the alphabet and math problems, aimed at providing additional resources to students who lack them.
Day 5: Highlighting The Umbrella Center
As Duck Love Week came to a close, we focused on The Umbrella Center. This vital organization offers comprehensive support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse and human trafficking. Their services range from crisis intervention and legal support to medical care and counseling, providing a holistic approach to helping survivors rebuild their lives.
Thank you for joining us in celebrating Duck Love Week! We are proud of the difference we’ve made and grateful for the opportunity to support these remarkable organizations. Here’s to continuing our commitment to giving back and making a positive impact in Charlotte and beyond.
